Size Acceptance Publications

Radiance Magazine "The magazine for large women" Intelligent, feminist, entertaining...one of the best! They've discontinued the print version, but they're still around on the Web.

BBW Magazine More like a traditional "fashion and lifestyle" magazine, sort of a Mademoiselle for fat women. Somewhat fluffier than Radiance, but not without substance. It's usually worth a look. The magazine has come back several times from the brink of going under, and it looks like it might have finally succumbed, but the website it still up.

Skorch is another new fashion magazine for plus-size women. They describe themselves as "InStyle, with a dash of Cosmo and a pinch of Vogue." They do seem to be featuring some actual fat women in the layouts!

Abundance is an online magazine that aims to "provide a forum for people of size and their admirers to congregate, to socialize, to exchange ideas and beliefs, and to become familiar with what it is like on the other side of the fence."

Big Gurl Magazine "the 'zine for women who value their spirit."

Large In Charge is a great online newsletter for and about fat people and our concerns.

Belle Noir "Big. Beautiful. You." A great e-zine for BBW's of color.

FAT!SO? "For people who don't apologize for their size" Smart, funny, and flabulous!! And now...there's FAT!SO?, the book!!! IMHO, it's just about the best fat acceptance book you can buy. It's funny, it's serious where it needs to be, it's empowering, it's fun to read, it's well-written, it's well-documented, the graphics are outstanding (love the flip book illustrations in the corner of each page!!) I've never seen a book that communicates the concepts of fat acceptance and pride so well.

Zaftig! Sex for the Well-Rounded was a wonderful quarterly magazine that featured "erotica, opinion, information, visuals, and food for thought about sex and sexuality for real, round bodies...for sexy people of all genders, sizes, and orientations who know that hot sex doesn't stop at size 10, 14, or even 40." Unfortunately, the publisher, Hanne Blank, has moved on to other projects and is no longer producing it. Fortunately, among her other projects are two books: Big Big Love: A Sourcebook on Sex for People of Size and Those Who Love Them, and Zaftig: Well Rounded Erotica. Both are as wonderful as their predecessor!
