Fudge

(from the kitchen of Evelyn McGhee)

4 cups sugar
14 oz. can evaporated milk (1-2/3 cup)
1 cup butter or margarine
12 oz. package semi-sweet chocolate chips
7 oz. jar marshmallow creme
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts

Combine sugar, milk and butter in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, to soft ball stage (236 degrees F.) Remove from heat and add chocolate, marshmallow creme, vanilla, and nuts. Beat until chocolate is melted. Pour in a buttered 9" X 13" pan. Cool and cut into squares.
