Banana Nut Bread

(from the kitchen of Evelyn McGhee)

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1-1/2 cup mashed ripe bananas
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
2 cups sifted flour
1 t. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, blending well. Add bananas, nuts, and dry ingredients (sifted together). Pour into a greased 9" x 5" x 3" loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees F. for one hour.
